Keyanna Jones Moore is a Community Organizer and Social  Justice Activist, born and raised in South DeKalb (District 3).  With more than 15 years of organizing experience, including organizing around childcare, anti-gun violence, parent advocacy in education, political campaigns, social justice, and environmental justice, she is a dedicated community servant. Keyanna is passionate about amplifying the intersections of struggle and is committed to highlighting the effects of Environmental Racism in marginalized communities. She serves as Co-Pastor of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Grant Park (Atlanta, GA), where she has a mission of connecting people spiritually and ideologically to build a true Beloved Community.

Keyanna believes government should be responsive to the community's requests and needs. She will work for YOU. She's committed to honesty, transparency and accountability and LISTENING to the community to promote the specific changes they want to see in their community.  Keyanna wants to activate and empower our neighborhoods to demand better services and the kind of development the residents want. She won’t make any decisions about you without you.

Candidate Q&A: DeKalb County Commission District 3

Decaturish had each candidate for DeKalb County Commission District 3 answer a questionnaire about their reasons for running for office. Click the picture to see Keyanna's answers!

 

Decaturish also held a forum for candidates who are running for the District 3 seat on the DeKalb County Commission.

Early voting is April 27- May 15.  Election Day is May 19. DeKalb County Commission seats are partisan. The winner will be on the ballot in November and will face a Republican candidate.

 

 

 

Commission District 3 covers the southwestern portion of the county, including a portion of the City of Atlanta. 82% of the district’s population lives in unincorporated DeKalb, while 18% lives in the City of Atlanta. Some notable sites in the district include the Porter Sanford Performing Arts & Community Center, Gresham Park Rec Center, NH Scott Rec Center,  Sugar Creek Golf & Tennis Club, and the Michelle Obama Trail. 

Neighborhoods include: Little 5 Points, Candler Park, Edgewood, Kirkwood, East Lake, WhiteOak, KingsRow, Dogwood Forest, Benton Harbor, Belvedere Park, Peach Crest, Kelley Lake, Hartwood Estates, Toney Valley, Toney Gardens, Spring Valley, Wesley Chapel, Candler Rd, Decatur, East Atlanta, McNair, Gresham Park, Monterrey , Panthersville, Chapel Meadow, Churchill Downs, Brook Glen, Cedar Grove, Ellenwood, Conley
